The Boston College Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nurse Anesthesia is a full-time, three-year program housed within the William F. Connell School of Nursing that prepares registered nurses for advanced anesthesia practice and eligibility to sit for the National Certification Examination. Established in 2002 and accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), it is one of only two CRNA programs in Massachusetts and typically enrolls a small cohort of highly qualified students with critical care experience. Coursework blends advanced anesthesia sciences with hands-on clinical practicum beginning in the second year, and students complete clinical rotations at major regional hospitals in the Boston area while developing depth in general, regional, obstetric, pediatric, and specialty anesthesia care.
