Job Description

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join the anesthesiology care team in a full-time, W-2 position. This role offers a weekday schedule with no nights, no weekends, and no holidays, along with student loan assistance.

As a member of the anesthesiology care team, the CRNA administers anesthesia to neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients under the direct supervision of an attending Anesthesiologist. Case assignments are determined by the supervising physician. The role supports the mission, vision, and values of CHOP and participates in departmental and hospital quality assessment and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-anesthetic evaluations including physical exams, review of labs and imaging, and discussion of anesthesia plans and risks
  • Administer general, regional, local, and monitored anesthesia care in appropriate clinical settings
  • Select, order, and administer anesthetics, muscle relaxants, analgesics, sedatives, and adjuvant medications
  • Monitor and support vital functions including ventilation, fluid management, and blood product administration
  • Provide airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed
  • Establish vascular access including arterial cannulation and central venous catheterization
  • Deliver post-anesthesia care including assessment of recovery, cardiopulmonary stability, and discharge readiness from PACU
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental programs

Cardiac Anesthesia Privileges (If Applicable)

  • Provide anesthesia for cardiothoracic procedures requiring cardiopulmonary bypass
  • Support catheterization lab procedures in patients with pulmonary hypertension
  • Assist with ECMO and ventricular assist device cases
  • Perform vascular access including arterial cut down techniques

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary from $220,000
  • W-2 employment status

Job Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing required; Doctorate preferred
  • Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license upon hire
  • CRNA certification (AANA or NBCRNA) upon hire
  • BLS certification
  • PALS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
