Job Description

Penn State Health – St. Joseph Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our team in Reading, Pennsylvania. As a CRNA, you will play a critical role in providing anesthesia care for a variety of surgical procedures in a collaborative and patient-focused environment. The CRNA will be responsible for directing and coordinating members of the care team, ensuring the provision of individualized, high-quality patient care consistent with Penn State Health’s standards. You will develop the patient plan of care in partnership with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and patients/families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthesia for a wide range of surgical procedures, including general, orthopedic, vascular, and ENT cases.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and anesthesia levels during surgery and make necessary adjustments to maintain stability.
  • Manage airways, perform intubations, and administer medications as needed.
  • Provide post-operative pain management and monitor patient recovery following anesthesia.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing guidelines, hospital rules and regulations, and supervisory physician requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training programs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $220,000 – $270,000 annually

Job Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion of a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs
  • Current CRNA certification
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
  • Minimum of one year of experience within the last three (3) years in an acute care setting preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Full-time position
  • Flexible schedule options:
    • Four 10-hour shifts per week
    • One 24-hour and two 8-hour shifts per week
