Job Description
WinnMed, the largest regional medical center in northeast Iowa, is seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its growing anesthesia and pain management services in Decorah. This is a CRNA-only practice offering full clinical autonomy, a balanced call schedule, and the opportunity to practice across anesthesia and chronic pain within a supportive, community-focused hospital.
Practice Environment
This position is hospital-employed within a CRNA-only anesthesia model. The team consists of experienced CRNAs who collaborate closely across surgical, obstetric, and pain services. WinnMed features new surgical and OB suites and a growing chronic pain management program, supporting high-quality care without medical direction.
Case Mix & Anesthesia Scope
- Orthopedic anesthesia
- General surgery, ENT, and urology
- Obstetric anesthesia with expanding OB services
- Pediatric cases
- Chronic pain management
- Regional anesthesia, including spinals, epidurals, and peripheral nerve blocks
- No cardiac, thoracic, neuro, trauma, or critical care anesthesia
Schedule & Workload
- Full-time position
- 1:6 first-call rotation
- No second-call responsibilities
- Post-call day off provided sometimes
- Single-hospital coverage
Clinical Responsibilities
- Independent delivery of anesthesia care
- Performance of regional anesthesia techniques
- Provision of chronic pain management services
- Preoperative assessment and anesthesia care planning
- Intraoperative management and postoperative handoff
- Occasional preoperative screening clinic duties
Compensation & Employment Structure
- Employment model: W-2 hospital employee
- Annual salary: approximately $290,000–$296,000
- Pain management compensation in addition to base salary
- $20,000 sign-on bonus with two-year commitment
- Seven weeks of paid vacation
- Two weeks of paid educational leave

Candidate Requirements
- Active Iowa CRNA license required or eligibility
- NBCRNA certification required or in examination process
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
