Job Description

UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital is seeking Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to join its growing anesthesia team in Waterloo, Iowa. CRNAs work across UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital and the United Medical Park Ambulatory Surgery Center, providing anesthesia for a diverse surgical population. Providers practice independently while caring for a wide variety of cases including general surgery, OB, orthopedics, robotic urology, pediatrics, neurosurgery, endoscopy, cath lab procedures, and more.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide independent anesthesia care for a diverse range of surgical procedures
• Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations and postoperative patient management
• Administer anesthesia for general surgery, orthopedics, robotic urology, OB, pediatrics, podiatry, neurosurgery, ERCP, endoscopy, MRI, cath lab, and ablation procedures
• Perform labor epidurals, spinal anesthesia for cesarean sections, and regional anesthesia blocks
• Manage assigned patients independently throughout the perioperative period
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to deliver exceptional patient care

• Starting salary beginning at $280,000

Job Requirements

• Current Iowa CRNA license required or eligible
• Current NBCRNA certification required
• Providers in the NBCRNA examination process will be considered
• Current ACLS certification required
• Strong understanding of pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia medications
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
• Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care

Schedule & Work Environment

• Full-time W-2 hospital-employed position
• Independent CRNA practice model
• Manage your own patients and anesthesia care
• 30 first-call shifts annually with opportunities to pick up additional paid call
• Post first-call day off
• Second-call responsibilities vary
• Practice across UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital and United Medical Park Ambulatory Surgery Center
• 204-bed Level III Trauma Center
• One hospital system with ambulatory surgery center
• Epic electronic medical record system
• Case mix includes bread-and-butter general surgery, robotic urology, orthopedics, labor epidurals, cesarean sections, pediatric dental and ENT, podiatry, ERCP, endoscopy, MRI, cath lab, ablations, spinal neurosurgery, and regional anesthesia
• No medical direction—CRNAs independently manage their own patients
• Physician backup available when needed
