Job Description
Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is seeking full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists to join its anesthesia team in New York City. This role is designed for CRNAs who prefer a structured hospital environment with predictable scheduling and a focused orthopedic surgical population. The position offers a three-day-per-week schedule during standard weekday hours with no call, no nights, and no weekend responsibilities.
This is a W-2 hospital-employed position with a defined scope of practice under anesthesiologist supervision. CRNAs work closely with attending anesthesiologists throughout the perioperative continuum, participating in anesthetic planning, delivery, and postoperative pain management. Per diem opportunities are also available for providers seeking flexible coverage at an hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer anesthesia under the direction of attending anesthesiologists
- Participate in preoperative assessments and anesthetic planning
- Assist with initiation and management of postoperative pain regimens
- Transfer patients safely from the operating room to PACU with proper monitoring
- Initiate PCA pumps when clinically indicated
- Maintain accurate anesthesia documentation and patient records
- Handle controlled substances in compliance with hospital and state regulations
- Adhere to all Hospital for Special Surgery clinical standards and policies

Compensation & Employment Details
- Annual salary range: $260,000 – $290,000 (W-2)
- $20,000 sign-on bonus for full-time hires

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program
- Active New York State RN and CRNA license
- NBCRNA certification required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Ability to function effectively within a supervised care team model
