Practice Environment
This is a supervised anesthesia practice within a 100-bed community hospital and Level III trauma center. The anesthesia department operates nine anesthetizing rooms with a 1:3 supervision ratio. Charting is completed using Meditech with supplemental paper documentation. The facility supports efficient workflows and a collaborative care team.
Case Mix & Anesthesia Scope
- General surgery cases
- Orthopedic anesthesia
- Obstetric anesthesia
- Pediatric cases
- Spinal anesthesia performed by CRNAs
- Peripheral nerve blocks available for proficient providers
Schedule & Workload
- Locum tenens position
- Contract length: 4–12 months with option to extend
- Minimum commitment of two weeks per month
- Shift options: five 8.5-hour shifts or four 10.5-hour shifts
- Occasional weekend beeper call
- Call-back rate less than 5%
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provision of anesthesia care in a supervised hospital setting
- Performance of spinal anesthesia
- Administration of peripheral nerve blocks when qualified
- Preoperative evaluation and anesthesia planning
- Intraoperative management and postoperative handoff
