The Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island School of Nurse Anesthesia has historically offered an intensive, hospital-based nurse anesthesia training track in Pawtucket that combines clinical immersion with didactic instruction through an academic partnership with Central Connecticut State University. Students in the program receive hands-on experience in all phases of anesthesia care under the guidance of CRNAs and anesthesiology faculty across diverse perioperative settings, and complete rotations that include general, regional, obstetric, and critical anesthesia experiences. Known for its small cohort size and focused clinical environment, this program has served as one of Rhode Island’s pathways to advanced anesthesia practice preparation prior to the broader national shift to doctoral-level education.
