The Minneapolis School of Anesthesia (MSA) Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) program is a full-time, 36-month track that blends advanced anesthesia sciences with early and sustained clinical immersion to prepare nurses for national certification and advanced anesthesia practice. Accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), MSA partners with a wide network of clinical affiliates throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in general, regional, obstetric, pediatric, and specialty anesthesia care across diverse perioperative settings. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practice, interprofessional collaboration, leadership, and the development of clinical judgment, and students benefit from extensive simulation training and faculty mentorship within a cohort-based learning environment.

Program Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.

Possess Minnesota Registered Nurse License.

Complete one year of nursing experience in a critical patient care setting within the last three years. Not accepted: Operating Room, Emergency Room, Post Anesthesia Recovery, or Ground/flight transport.

Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater.

Certifications are not required for application. Required prior to entrance into the program: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).

Must have taken College Chemistry within the past five years.
