Mount Marty University’s Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) program is a 36-month, full-time doctoral track delivered from the Sioux Falls campus that combines blended didactic coursework with extensive clinical experience across approximately 50 affiliate sites in the Upper Midwest. As part of a Catholic, Benedictine university that was the first in the nation to offer a bachelor’s degree in anesthesia, the program is known for its cohort structure, personalized clinical placement process, and breadth of patient care exposure across the lifespan. Select Mount Marty nursing graduates may qualify for direct entry into the DNAP program, reflecting the school’s emphasis on academic excellence, clinical preparedness, and community-oriented holistic values.

Program Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
Current licensure as an RN.
A minimum of 1 year (2 years preferred), full-time experience as a registered nurse in a critical care setting. Most accepted students have two or more years of acute care experience within the last 3 years. Experience should provide the skills for physical assessment; monitoring of CVP, PWCP, blood gasses, ECG, and ventilators; and I.V. therapy. Acceptable critical care experience include: Cardiovascular ICU, Surgical ICU, Medical ICU, Neuro ICU, Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, Coronary Care Unit, and Open-heart recovery unit. Not acceptable: Step down or transitional care areas, Post-coronary care, Intermediate care units, Progressive care units, Recovery room/PACU, Operating Room, or Emergency Room.
Cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with a minimum score of 400 in both the verbal and quantitative sections.
Required Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). CCRN, though not required, is preferred.
Course Prerequisites: 2 courses in chemistry and 1 course in elementary statistics or epidemiology.
