The Oakland University–Beaumont Graduate Program of Nurse Anesthesia is a 36-month, full-time Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP-NA) track offered through a collaboration between Oakland University’s School of Nursing and the nationally recognized Beaumont Health System. Ranked among the top nurse anesthesia programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report, the curriculum integrates DNP coursework with nurse anesthesia specialty study and early clinical immersion, exposing students to a wide range of perioperative and specialty anesthesia care across Beaumont campuses and more than 40 affiliate clinical sites. Students complete extensive hands-on training and simulation experiences while preparing for eligibility to sit for the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists exam.

Program Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.

Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Michigan

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience must be within 2 years of the application deadline. NOT accepted: Emergency Room, Recovery Room, or Step-down units.

Undergraduate cumulative GPA must be a 3.0 or above, and grades in each required science course in the undergraduate nursing program must be a 3.0 or above.

GRE scores: V > 400, Q > 400, A > 3.5 OR an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or greater.

Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).

You must be able to demonstrate the ANA Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Performance

CRNA Undergraduate Prerequisites: Physiology (no more than 7 years prior to application to the program), Pathophysiology (no more than 7 years prior to application to the program). The following classes must be within 10 years of applying to the program: Anatomy, Pharmacology, and Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry. Must have a 3.0 or better in all classes.
