Program Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.

Must have a current RN license. You will need an RN license for Oregon, Washington, and Florida.

One year recent, full-time, adult, critical care, ICU setting. Typically admitted applicants have two to five years of such experience. Experience gained in a high volume unit is best. Acceptable critical care experience includes: Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Cardiac ICU, Cardiovascular ICU (the most preferred ICU experience), Neurological ICU, Trauma ICU, or Burns ICU. Not typically acceptable is primary experience in: Emergency Room, Recovery Room, Operating Room, or Neonatal ICU.

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to students with a science GPA of 3.0 or better as well.

A combined verbal and quantitative GRE score of 1,000 for the old format or 297 for the new format. Applicants should also have a minimum analytic writing score of 4.0 to be competitive.

Certifications: BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) (not required, but highly preferred).

Basic Statistics with a grade of “B” or better within five years prior to entry.
