Job Description

Rush University Medical Center is seeking full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to support the Rush SurgiCenter, an outpatient ambulatory surgery center located on the Rush University Medical Center campus in downtown Chicago. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a high-performing outpatient environment while holding a faculty appointment within a nationally recognized academic medical system.

The Rush SurgiCenter delivers surgical care across all outpatient categories and is ranked #1 in Illinois by Newsweek’s America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers. CRNAs in this role function under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist and provide comprehensive pre-anesthetic, anesthetic, and post-anesthetic care for a diverse outpatient case mix.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, this position includes serving as a faculty member within the nurse anesthesia program, with active involvement in supervising Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs). This role is well-suited for CRNAs interested in combining outpatient clinical practice with academic engagement and professional mentorship.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a full-time, W-2 position based entirely in an outpatient surgery center setting. Available shifts include 8-hour and 10-hour options, with schedules tailored to individual preferences whenever possible. CRNAs are consistently relieved on time and do not work under a waterfall or late-relief model.

No call is required for this position. There are no nights, weekends, or in-house call responsibilities, making this an attractive opportunity for CRNAs seeking predictable scheduling and strong work-life balance within an academic health system.

Compensation & Academic Incentives

The total compensation range for this role is $250,000 to $350,000 annually, depending on experience, training, and other organizational factors. Full-time CRNAs are eligible for sign-on bonuses of up to $30,000, as well as premium pay opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Rush also offers unique educational incentives, including an SRNA Grant that provides financial support to students prior to employment and participation in the Illinois Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program, offering up to $5,000 per year in loan forgiveness for up to four years.

  • Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program
  • Current NBCRNA certification
