Job Description
Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists for full-time and part-time W-2 positions in a leading pediatric academic medical center. This role focuses on delivering anesthesia care tailored to the unique physiological needs of pediatric patients while working closely with pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary care teams. A structured orientation program of 6–12 months is provided to support clinical growth and long-term success.
Practice Environment
This is a hospital-based pediatric anesthesia practice within a nationally recognized children’s hospital. CRNAs practice in a collaborative environment alongside anesthesiologists and surgical teams, with strong emphasis on education, mentorship, and team-based perioperative care. The institution supports teaching, professional development, and clinical excellence.
Case Mix & Anesthesia Scope
- Pediatric surgical and diagnostic procedures
- General, regional, and local anesthesia
- Sedation services
- Spinal, epidural, and peripheral nerve blocks
- Difficult airway management and rapid sequence intubation
- Emergency and code response anesthesia care
Schedule & Workload
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
- Hospital-based pediatric anesthesia schedule
- Structured orientation lasting 6–12 months
Clinical Responsibilities
- Comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluation and risk assessment
- Development and implementation of individualized anesthesia care plans
- Administration and management of anesthesia during procedures
- Intraoperative physiologic monitoring and anesthetic adjustment
- Post-anesthesia care and management of recovery
- Participation in emergency airway management and resuscitation
- Education of patients and families regarding anesthesia and recovery
- Teaching and mentoring students, residents, and newly hired CRNAs
