Job Description

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut is seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join its pediatric anesthesia team. Working collaboratively with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals, the CRNA provides anesthesia care for medical and surgical procedures while maintaining a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.

This position focuses on delivering comprehensive anesthesia services while supporting a patient-centered environment that addresses the physical, psychosocial, and functional needs of pediatric patients and their families. The CRNA serves as a key provider in maintaining continuity of care throughout the perioperative process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations including patient history, physical examination, and review of diagnostic studies
  • Educate patients and families about surgical procedures and anesthesia plans
  • Prepare anesthesia equipment, medications, and operating room setup
  • Select and administer anesthetic agents for induction, maintenance, and emergence
  • Monitor patients during procedures using appropriate invasive and non-invasive monitoring techniques
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition during anesthesia care
  • Provide post-anesthesia recovery care and follow-up assessments
  • Identify and manage emergency situations, including participation in resuscitation efforts
  • Document anesthesia care accurately and ensure compliance with clinical standards

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $150,000 – $250,000
  • Full-time W-2 employment

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
  • NBCRNA certification or recertification
  • Active Registered Nurse license in Connecticut
  • Connecticut CRNA licensure
  • PALS certification required
  • No prior experience required

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Full-time hospital-based role
  • First and second call schedules negotiable
  • Night and weekend shifts may be required depending on clinical needs
  • Collaborative care model with anesthesiologists
  • Approximately 10% medical direction by anesthesiologists
