Job Description

UC San Diego Health is seeking a skilled and dedicated Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join its anesthesia team. This role provides experienced anesthetic services and airway management across UC Medical Center in Hillcrest, the La Jolla Campus hospitals, and other UC San Diego Health locations. The workweek runs from Sunday 12:00 AM to Saturday 11:59 PM, with on-call availability and off-shift assignments required. CRNAs provide anesthesia services for patients of all ages, including handling complex cases under the direction of medical faculty.

Depending on experience, candidates will be hired at either the CRNA or Senior CRNA level. While not required, applicants are encouraged to include a cover letter with their submission.

Key Details

• Position: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Senior CRNA
• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Compensation Range: $238,366 – $333,704 annually
• Shifts: Primary shifts are 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, with swing and night shifts on a rotating basis
• Practice Setting: Academic Medical Center with trauma and high-acuity cases
• Location: UC San Diego Health locations (Hillcrest, La Jolla, and others)

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program
• Current, non-probationary California RN and CRNA licenses (or eligible)
• Valid NBCRNA board certification
• BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at hire, with ART certification within six months
• Strong theoretical knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and critical care
• Experience with pre-anesthetic preparation, general and regional anesthesia, and airway management
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of licensed CRNA experience (required for Senior CRNA level)
• Experience with complex anesthetic cases and OB anesthesia care
• Experience working in an Academic Medical Center and high-acuity environments
• Proficiency with perioperative management such as ERAS
• Ability to independently place central and arterial lines
