Job Description
The George E. Wahlen Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah is seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join its Anesthesia Care Team in a 121-bed high-complexity federal hospital. This is a W-2 federal position providing anesthesia services to Veterans in a collaborative, team-based model with strong physician support.
This role offers a stable federal career path, meaningful mission-driven work, and long-term retirement benefits. The position replaces a retiring CRNA and supports a well-established anesthesia department.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia services across a full range of surgical cases in a high-acuity VA medical center
- Practice in a collaborative Anesthesia Care Team model (approximately 99% medically directed)
- Perform arterial line placement and spinal anesthesia as indicated
- Participate in home-based call rotation with weekday and weekend differentials
- Deliver care in a single-facility practice with no travel between sites
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $177,338 – $235,854
- 4×10 schedule with rotating weekday off
- Home-based call with paid call coverage
- Time-and-a-half pay for hours worked beyond 40 per week
- Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) pension after 5 years
- Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) with up to 5% government match
- 5 weeks annual leave (accrued), 13 sick days per year, and all federal holidays paid

Job Requirements
- NBCRNA Certification required
- Active RN and APRN licensure (any U.S. state license accepted)
- Current ACLS certification required
- No fellowship required
- New graduates acceptable

- Home-based call with varying first and second call frequency
