The Lincoln Memorial University Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesia is a full-time, nine-semester program offered through the Caylor School of Nursing that blends advanced clinical anesthesia education with leadership, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Approved by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs to award a doctoral degree, students complete clinical rotations across affiliate hospitals in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, and Georgia, gaining broad anesthesia experience in diverse care settings. With curriculum components ranging from advanced anesthesia pharmacology and pathophysiology to adaptive leadership and population health, the program emphasizes developing strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills for practice across the lifespan.

Program Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.

An unencumbered Tennessee RN license by the time of enrollment. You may need licensure in neighboring states including Kentucky and Virginia for clinical.

A minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in adult critical care is preferred. Neonatal and pediatric experience will be considered on an individual basis. Non acceptable experience includes: Step Down Unit, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Operating Room, or Emergency Room.

A cumulative GPA of B or better.

Competitive GRE scores on Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing are required.

Required certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).

Course Prerequisites: Intro to Statistics, Nursing Research, Health Assessment, Basic Computer class, Two chemistry courses, at least one of which has a laboratory component.
