Job Description

Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for a locum tenens assignment. This is an urgent need due to expansion of clinical services at a Level 1 Trauma Center. Join a collaborative team in a large, hospital-based environment offering a variety of adult general and neurosurgical cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care for adult general surgical and neurosurgical cases
• Perform spinal anesthesia and manage ventilation
• Collaborate with a team of physician anesthesiologists under a medical direction billing model
• Work within a supportive and patient-centered environment

Compensation & Benefits

• 1099 independent contractor position
• Optional overtime available
• Flexible 10–12 hour shifts (typically Monday and Friday)
• Paid travel and lodging negotiable

Job Requirements

• Current CRNA certification
• Active Maine RN and APRN licensure
• Experience in general surgical and neurosurgical cases
• Proficiency in spinal anesthesia and ventilation management

Schedule & Work Environment

• Locum Tenens position for 3–6 months
• No call required
• Work in a hospital with 50 operating rooms
• EMR: EPIC
• Average of 100 surgical cases per day
• CRNAs do not cover open hearts, OB, thoracic, pediatric, or regional blocks
