Program Requirements
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited school or Bachelor of Science in a related physical science.
Current unrestricted license as a RN in a state within the United States and eligibility for licensure in all states in the United States.
Applicants must have a minimum of one full year of critical care experience in an intensive care unit within the past three years as a registered nurse. The program does not accept the following as critical care experience: Operating room, Obstetrics, PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit), Emergency department and other experiences will be considered on an individual basis.
Prospective students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 on all undergraduate courses or 3.0 on the last 60 units of undergraduate courses on a 4.0 scale. A Science GPA of 2.75 or greater is required.
Applicants are required to possess current certification in: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support). Certification in any of the following is preferred: CCRN (Certification for Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care Nurses), TNCC (Trauma Nurses Core Courses), CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse).
The undergraduate prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of B or better: Pharmacology, Anatomy with Lab, Physiology, General Chemistry, Statistics, Basic Research (1 course), Biochemistry is not required but strongly recommended.
Shadow experience in the OR with a CRNA or Anesthesiologist.
