Job Description

University of Michigan Health–Sparrow Carson is seeking a full-time CRNA to join their hospital-based anesthesia team in Carson City, Michigan. This position offers an independent practice model with a mix of elective and emergency cases, along with the opportunity to provide anesthesia and pain management services across surgical settings.

The primary practice location is University of Michigan Health–Sparrow Carson, with occasional support at Sparrow Clinton as needed. CRNAs play a key role in perioperative care, including preoperative assessments, intraoperative management, and postoperative follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia and pain management for elective and emergency procedures
• Conduct preoperative and postoperative patient evaluations
• Administer and monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures
• Perform and manage regional anesthesia techniques and blocks
• Document all anesthesia care and monitoring activities
• Participate in hospital committees and community-related initiatives
• Ensure compliance with clinical, professional, and regulatory standards

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary starting at $270,000
• $50,000 sign-on bonus with a three-year commitment
• W-2 employed position
• Malpractice insurance provided
• 5 weeks of paid vacation

Job Requirements

• Active Michigan CRNA license required
• NBCRNA certification required
• New graduates not accepted
• No subspecialty fellowship required

Schedule & Work Environment

• Full-time hospital-based role
• Independent practice model with approximately 10% medical direction
• First call: every third night
• No second call responsibilities
• Post-call days off are rare
• Case mix includes outpatient surgery, orthopedics, and regional anesthesia
• Frequent use of regional anesthesia and preoperative screening clinic duties
• Rare pediatric cases; no cardiac, thoracic, neuro, trauma, or OB cases
• CRNA employed by both hospital and anesthesia group
