School Information Updated February, 2026

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Nurse Anesthesia Program is a collaborative Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) track offered through the UNC Charlotte School of Nursing in partnership with Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), preparing registered nurses for advanced anesthesia practice and eligibility to sit for the National Certification Examination. The full-time program requires about 89 credit hours and is completed over nine semesters, with one class admitted each summer and an intentional cohort structure of roughly 24 students per year. Accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) through October 2034, students complete rigorous didactic instruction, high-fidelity simulation, and clinical immersion primarily at Atrium Health facilities in the Charlotte area, and the program consistently reports strong outcomes — including high first-time board pass rates and 100 % employment for recent graduates.
