Program Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing (NLNAC), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Licensure:
    • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of one year of full-time work experience as a registered nurse in a critical care setting within the United States by the application deadline.
    • Critical care experience includes settings such as surgical intensive care, cardiothoracic intensive care, coronary intensive care, medical intensive care, pediatric intensive care, and neonatal intensive care.
  • Academic Performance: Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Prerequisite Coursework:
    • Undergraduate courses in health assessment, nursing research, and statistics (including inferential analysis). The statistics course must be completed within five years of the program start date. If this timeframe has been exceeded, an approved statistics course must be completed prior to admission.
