I’m in a similar situation — I’ve been a nurse for almost six years, mostly in the ER, and I’ve been seriously considering applying to CRNA school too. I know ICU experience is the traditional route since it aligns more closely with the critical care background CRNA programs look for, but I’ve heard of a few nurses getting in with strong ER experience, especially if they can clearly demonstrate critical thinking, hemodynamic management, and experience with high-acuity patients. I’m still weighing whether to apply as I am or try to transition into ICU first, but I’d really love to hear from anyone who’s successfully taken the ER-to-CRNA path.
