4 year practicing CRNA here, with the ultimate goal of someday teaching. Looking for input/info from peers on the differences, and advantages/disadvantages of DNP vs DNAP? (with teaching as the goal)
You may want to ask a few of the school within your area, assuming that is where you would like to wind up teaching. I have heard in conversation that some colleges/higher institutions do not recognize the DNAP, and that some do not accept practice doctorates at all, and only accept research based degrees. If you have the choice, my thoughts would be to go for the DNP, as it has wider acceptance, for now at least.
Go with DNP. I did DNAP, and though I enjoyed the program, some state boards don’t recognize DNAP as a nursing degree.
