The Case Western Reserve University Nurse Anesthesia Program is a full-time, 36-month Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) track offered through the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio, and accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) with continued accreditation through spring 2030. Students in the program complete the same core anesthesia curriculum whether enrolled in the Frances Payne Bolton track or the Cleveland Clinic Foundation/Frances Payne Bolton affiliated track, with coursework taught by expert faculty and immersive clinical training at the Cleveland Clinic and affiliated regional sites. Admission is competitive — applicants are required to hold a BSN and at least one year of recent critical care experience with specialty certification (such as CCRN) — and the program reports strong outcomes, including high first-time board pass and employment rates.

Program Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.

RN licensure in Ohio.

All applicants must have either two years of recent acute care experience or one year acute care experience with subspecialty certification. Acceptable acute care settings include: Recovery Room, Emergency Room, Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Neonatal ICU, or Pediatric ICU.

Satisfactory scores on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

Statistics course equivalent to STAT 201 that includes ANOVA must be completed within 4 years of matriculation.
