Job Description

The Durham VA Medical Center is seeking three full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to join its established anesthesia team. This federal government position offers a predictable schedule, no call responsibilities, and a strong team environment within a single-hospital practice.

CRNAs work in a 100% medically directed model alongside 13 full-time anesthesiologists, 3 part-time anesthesiologists, and 25 CRNAs in a facility that supports both physician residency and CRNA training programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia services for general, vascular, orthopedic, and ENT cases
• Practice in a medically directed model (100%)
• Insert arterial lines (always), lumbar epidurals (sometimes), and central lines (rarely)
• Administer spinal anesthesia (usually)
• Work collaboratively with anesthesiologists and surgical teams

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $220,000 – $270,000 annually
• W-2 federal employment
• 5 weeks paid vacation

Job Requirements

• NBCRNA certification required
• Active state license (any U.S. state accepted for federal employment)
• Current ACLS certification required
• PALS not required
• New graduates negotiable

Schedule & Work Environment

• 4 ten-hour shifts per week
• No first or second call
• No weekends or holidays
• Single hospital practice
• 6 anesthesia technicians
• Chief CRNA: Lisa Gioia (11 years with group)
