The Excela Health School of Anesthesia is a hospital-based nurse anesthesia program located in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and delivered in academic partnership with Saint Vincent College. The program follows a full-time, doctoral-level curriculum that emphasizes early and continuous clinical immersion within Excela Health’s regional hospital system, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in general, regional, obstetric, orthopedic, and outpatient anesthesia care. Known for its small cohort size and close faculty mentorship, the program focuses on building strong clinical judgment through high case volume, progressive responsibility, and direct training alongside experienced CRNAs and anesthesiologists in a community-based healthcare setting.

Program Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.

Current Registered Nurse license.

A minimum of one year of nursing experience in an acute care setting. Acceptable critical care experience includes: ICU (Intensive Care Unit), CCU (Coronary Care Unit), ER (Emergency Room), PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit), Neonatal ICU, or Pediatric ICU.

GPA of 3.0 or above in your undergraduate degree.

GRE is not required but preferred.

Required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).

Must have College level chemistry taken within the last 7 years, and College level statistics taken within the past 10 years.
