The Villanova University Nurse Anesthesia Program is a 36-month, full-time Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) track housed within a nationally recognized private Catholic research university, blending rigorous classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience at affiliate hospitals across Philadelphia and the surrounding region. Villanova’s program emphasizes advanced pharmacology, physiology, airway management, regional anesthesia, and perioperative care, bolstered by high-fidelity simulation and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. With small cohort sizes and a structured clinical progression, the curriculum is designed to prepare students for successful certification and practice as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists in diverse care settings.

Program Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
Current RN license.
Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience. Acceptable critical care experience includes: Cardiothoracic ICU, Surgical ICU, Pediatric ICU in a large Children’s Hospital is acceptable, ER must be in a large trauma center to be considered, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) would only be considered if the critically ill patients (Open heart, neuro, AAA’s etc) do not go directly to ICU after surgery. Try to gain experience with the sickest patients in your facility and with invasive hemodynamic monitoring.
Minimum GPA of 3.0.
A score of 400 for Millers and a minimum of 430 on verbal on GREs.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
Satisfactory completion of a statistics course, which includes both descriptive and inferential statistics.
