The Thomas Jefferson University Nurse Anesthesia Program is a full-time, doctoral-level track delivered in partnership with Jefferson Health that prepares nurses for advanced anesthesia practice within a large academic health system. Students complete a rigorous curriculum grounded in advanced physiology, pharmacology, and evidence-based practice, supported by high-fidelity simulation and progressive clinical immersion. Clinical training occurs across Jefferson’s diverse hospital network in the Philadelphia region, exposing students to complex surgical cases, specialty services, and high-acuity patient populations while preparing graduates for eligibility to sit for the National Certification Examination.

Program Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.

Current licensure as a registered nurse.

A minimum of one year experience in a critical care setting (2 or more years preferred).

A minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants who have earned an undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or better are not required to present GRE or MAT test results. Applicants whose undergraduate GPA is 3.1 or below must present evidence of one of the following: Competitive scores on the GRE, GRE Writing Examination, MAT, or grades of B or better in 2 core graduate nursing courses taken at TJU as a non-degree student.

Required Certifications: PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation).

Course Prerequisites: Statistics, Nursing Research, and Physical Assessment.
