Job Description
Surgical Eye Center of San Antonio is seeking dependable and experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to join its team as independent 1099 contractors. This part-time/PRN opportunity offers exceptional work-life balance, competitive compensation, and a predictable schedule in a modern ophthalmic surgery center specializing primarily in cataract procedures.
The center performs approximately 1,500-1,800 surgical cases annually and is known for its clinical excellence, patient safety, efficient workflow, and collaborative culture. Providers will administer monitored anesthesia care (MAC) and IV sedation for low-acuity ophthalmic procedures in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia screenings and patient assessments
- Administer and manage monitored anesthesia care (MAC) and IV sedation
- Monitor patients throughout ophthalmic surgical procedures
- Ensure safe and efficient perioperative anesthesia care
- Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists, nursing staff, and surgical personnel
- Support rapid patient turnover while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality
- Provide anesthesia care for cataract, glaucoma, and eyelid procedures
Compensation & Benefits
- $200-$225 per hour compensation
- $1,100 guaranteed minimum per half-day shift (up to 5 hours)
- Additional hours paid at the contracted hourly rate
- Prorated compensation in 15-minute increments beyond 5 hours

Job Requirements
- Current unrestricted Texas APRN license with CRNA designation
- Current NBCRNA certification
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Minimum 1-2 years of CRNA experience required
- Ambulatory Surgery Center experience preferred
- Ophthalmic anesthesia experience strongly preferred
- Must reside within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area
- Professional, reliable, and team-oriented approach to patient care
Schedule & Work Environment
- Part-time / PRN 1099 opportunity
- Primarily Monday through Thursday schedule
- 7:00 AM start time
- Typical workday concludes between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM
- 8-12 cases per day
- No call responsibilities
- No nights
- No weekends
- No holidays
- Low-acuity patient population (primarily ASA I-II, occasional ASA III)
- 90% cataract surgery with occasional glaucoma and eyelid procedures
- No general anesthesia cases
- IV sedation and local anesthesia only
