Job Description
The South Texas Veterans Health Care System is seeking Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to join the anesthesia team at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. This federal position welcomes experienced CRNAs, new graduates, veterans, and non-veterans alike. Providers work within a collaborative anesthesia care team model while enjoying the stability, benefits, and mission-driven environment of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
This practice offers a diverse case mix without cardiac, pediatric, or obstetric anesthesia responsibilities. Opportunities to perform regional anesthesia are available but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia care for surgical and procedural patients within a multidisciplinary care team
- Perform preoperative assessments and develop anesthesia care plans
- Administer anesthesia for orthopedic, vascular, neuro, outpatient, and non-operating room anesthesia (NORA) procedures
- Monitor patients throughout anesthesia administration and recovery
- Perform arterial line placement and other advanced anesthesia procedures as needed
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, and support staff to deliver exceptional veteran-centered care
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation ranging from $200,000 – $300,000 annually

Job Requirements
- Current NBCRNA certification or eligibility required
- Any active U.S. state CRNA license accepted
- Current ACLS certification required
- New graduates encouraged to apply

- No fellowship training required
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time W-2 federal employee position
- Collaborative anesthesia care team model
- 100% medically directed practice
- First-call rotation approximately every 15th night
- No second-call responsibilities
- 17 CRNAs, 11 anesthesiologists, and 10 anesthesia technicians on staff
- No cardiac, pediatric, obstetric, or trauma anesthesia cases
- Regional anesthesia opportunities available but not required
- Major vascular, orthopedic, outpatient surgery, and NORA cases performed regularly
